Austin G. McLain


Austin was born in Heidelberg, Germany as the son of a United States Army Officer. His family ultimately settled down in Huntsville, AL where he attended high school.

After graduating from High School, Austin attended and graduated from The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina as a member of the class of 2007. While a Cadet, he earned recognition on the Dean’s List, Commandant’s List and President’s List and was a member of the 2007 Summerall Guards.

After earning his Bachelor’s degree, he attended Mississippi College, School of Law, graduating Cum Laude in 2012. During law school, he served as Production Editor for the Mississippi College Law Review and was a member of the Mississippi College Moot Court Board.

In 2012, he moved from Jackson, MS to his wife’s hometown of Anderson, SC and has been practicing law in the Upstate since. First as an Assistant Solicitor under Solicitor Chrissy Adams and then as the Chief Public Defender for Oconee County where he earned valuable trial experience as both a prosecutor and defense attorney before joining McLaurin Law, LLC.

Austin primarily practices in the areas of Criminal and DUI defense, Family Law, Estate Planning, Estate and Trust Litigation and Business Law.

In Austin's Spare Time...


You can find him spending time with his wife and two children. He is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing in the upstate, watching college football and cheering on The Citadel Bulldogs!
